Honda Marine Race Motor?
Heard a rumor that Honda is working on a marine application for its Indy car engine. Engine looks and performs strong. Would be an awesome motor if they come out with it. Has anyone else heard anything on it

I saw an idiot who put a 328 Ferrari engine in an 18ft Donzi..
it went about as fast as the 350 Chevy did....he had to use a propeller that changes pitch to get it on plane. One that starts out at 12 pitch and scoots up to 25 pitch...dumb idea...but it got looks...and sounded good.

they might turbo it like the 1200cc turbo jet ski they make. if they do it will be a crushing blow to merc as hondas engines are the bomb for reliabilty. h#ll they built an oval piston 16 valve, two carb, and two exhaust pipe per cylinder bike 10 years ago. if they set thier minds to something watch out cuz it will probably kick azz.

Let's see.... 3 liters/183 cubic inches, roughly 650 hp at 10,000 rpm or so. That translates to a peak torque somewhere around 330 ft-lbs. Might work with a 3.0:1 gear ratio.....
We did some "one-off" engines for Indy 11 years ago that had better specs: 3.4 liters/209 cubic inches, 1012 hp at 9,800 and over 500 ft-lbs. (Of course, they were turbocharged at 55 inches of boost...) After we got done with them, there was a rumor that Gary Garbrecht wanted to borrow (lease?) two of them and go for the 7-liter (427 ci) hydro record. Nothing ever seemed to have come of that.

Re: Honda Marine Race Motor?
spoke with a honda engineer yesterday , gave very little detail, but something is in the works. glad to see others getting into the arena, might make the industry more competetive for us boaters. I know if Honda comes out with something it will run good and for a long time. I've always had hondas on all my eqp. starts on first pull everytime.
