One of these days it will no longer be that - "gas is the cheapest part of boating" .

63 hours on the boat last year only 33 so far this year.. Last year used the jet ski's 3 times per week, now only 1-2... Planned to do Lake George, 1000 islands and lake champlain fun run but can't afford 600.00 in fuel for truck and boat for one weekend of boating. we stay local and plan our trips more carefully.

Gas prices have seriously dampened my interest in getting a larger boat. Anybody else stop shopping because of the increased price in gas?

I ran around at 50 mph last season. (top speed.)
Yesterday I went to get gas and on the way there and back I tried to see how slow I could go and still stay on plane.
It is pretty much 2800 rpms on each engine and about 33 mph.
I think that this is my new top speed.

If it was going up THIS season only it wouldn't be so bad.
At the current rate of gasoline inflation (70 cents since Jan) which is roughly 1.30 per year... next season will be $4.30 and the following will be $5.60
At the CURRENT rate of inflation (most folks expect a faster rise) gas will be about $7.00 per gallon the summer of 2008.
That would be an extra 5k per season within 3 years for a three year total of about 10k extra.
