Default Proof all drive showers aren't all their cracked up to be..

Page 65 of the new (September) edition of Powerboat.

Unless I'm missing something?

You will see that in a lot of pictures. Simrek used to have an add showing a couple.

Without looking at the mag, I know which pic you are refering too. I'll never have that problem with my Innovative Marine shower!

It shows an aft shot of a 27 Daytona running at speed. It appears no water is being directed to the bearing cap of the Bravo drive via an IMCO-style drive shower. I've also noticed this in a lot of other photos in other editions of PB, Hot Boat, etc. Whether it is a boat-specific problem, an optical illusion, etc., I'm not sure. All I do know for sure is that I had a 400 hour + Sunsation Dominator in my driveway performing drive service and the drives were as clean as new even though the owner had never cleaned them. The owner had installed IMCO drive showers when the boat was new. Without the showers, the drives would have been caked in mineral deposits.

I'm sure all of them will decrease heat to a degree, However the simrek halo directs the flow to the thinner sides of the drive that allow it to wick through the thinner metal and in turn cool the fluid. IMHO the ones that direct the flow to the cap dont cool as well as the cap has no fluid in it anyhow, and the thicker metal will stay hot and steam it. The Simrek halo reduces drive temps 60 degrees.

That's funny!

But one of these times, you're going to stop, and the drive is going to piss on you.
