What do most people carry as far as deductibles??? $500 or $1,000 Say boat is worth $50,000

as high as they offer .....5K ? cause your only going to file a claim if the boats on the bottom ......

I agree with offthefront. It's different with the boat than with the car. I may make a claim on my car for some bullchit or whatever but as far as the boat......hell no just another reason to drop you or not renew. So car I have $0 deductible, boat I have a a good size deductible, nothing outrageous, but definetly not real low. Only if it's on the bottom is right.......

Yap, you guys are right. I had a dumb ass back into my boat and then mine went into the dock and did $2,500 damage. No witness so I just paid it out of my pocket instead of a claim because my yearly rate was so cheep I new they would drop me or raise it.

most shops can eat most of the dect. if you have a freind in the buss ask them,deducts are non taxable cash in our pockets. thank you!

As high as your bank allows(most won't go past 1000$ ded unless you have SUBSTANTIAL cash in your acct). These guys are right too,if you had a 500$ ded and did 999$ worth of damage to your boat the 499$ more the lower ded would cover would dissappear QUICKLY when your rates go up or you get dropped,Smitty
