Laveycraft has done many boats with Ilmor's
Great reliable engines and very efficient Their 28' EVO went 100+ with a 7-10 along with their 27' Sabre |
710 Ilmor
I have a 2007 24 Lavey Craft with a 710 Ilmor. This is my 39th boat. None have been driven harder than this one. I have 107 hours with only 25 hour oil changes to the motor. The out drive is a simple IMCO SC, grease changed at 25 hours as well.
I just had a new cone clutch put in the out drive. My only piece of preventive maintainence outside of standard fluid changes. I ask my trusted mechanic to take the boat out and make sure the drive acted ok. I told him to drive it hard. His words were, "I think I could have driven this motor wide open until I ran out of gas and it wouldn't have known the difference." I concur. Speed costs money. You might as well spend it wisely. |
We'd love to build a 37AT with a pair of 710 Ilmors.

To answer that - you only have 3 viable options 1. Dont mess with it. There is very little available and this engine makes more than the Automotive versions already so little is available in the way of aftermarket except for turbos - big medicine. 2. Boost power - the only people beside Ilmor I trust to rebuild this engine from scratch and improve upon it substantially. BP can get another 100 out of a 710, (30K) - but Id guess a 625 could be fitted with the same internals and new heads. 700 HP for a 505 is impressive 800 HP from a 505 is amazing (for a marine engine that idles and has a wide power band- no Earl Gearte sprint car engine comparisons please) 3. Trade up- ILmors keep value pretty well and there are a number of (ilmor)dudes that will take trade ins. Ilmor dude is one of them although I think technically he IS Ilmor. Im beginning to think Ilmordude likely hides his full factory powers from us so that he can hang out at will amongst engine mortals such as we. UD |

The 7-10 has been replaced by the 725, available with the new "Indy" drive. Call Ilmor - They're just about ready to start shipping.
