Price on used ASD 8s
 

I may have found a good deal on a used pair of ASD 8 drives, but I don't know what they usually go for. Whats the usual price range for these.

Not sure, the guy just said he has them with some misc, parts. He did say no trannys and no props. That is a good point, what should I be asking him about them ? I don't know much about them.

I'll find that stuff out next time I talk with him, probably not till Monday. Gary, I just stumbled on this while calling everybody about my tranny problem. It might be worth the extra work and money to switch to Arnesons, unlike the Kaamas.

You also have to be concerned about which gears and which chains.

Selling ASD8's are not easy. I never heard of one being blown yet. I have heard of cracked boxes due to getting hit, worn out chains and seals.

I know a guy who purchased a boat with ASD#8's. Splashed it with no oil in the boxes. Ran the boat for 50 miles and discovered there was NO drain plugs and therefoe NO oil in the boxes. Pulled it, inspected it, put oil in it and they were good to go.

First find out if they have a chain box. If it is an older box, then I would not take them if they were free. There are zero parts available for 1800 drive. I was just at the factory. The new stuff is worth gold.

They are straight. Not sure if I can use them. I was thinking of trying to replace my Kaamas and Twin Disc transmissions. Any thoughts on the swap?
