First time here; How are IMP Boats?
Hey guys. This is my first post here, Im wondering what you guys think of IMP Boats. More specifically the Eleganza 235? I have never owned a boat before, although I always have. And right now I have a chance to buy a 2002 IMP Eleganza 235 for around $13,500.
I have been searching for hours on the internet today and I havent really found much of anything on these boats except that it looks like IMP went under in 2002 Im really looking for general specs (top speed) on this model and was a 454 motor stock in this boat, because it has one in it now (I cant even find the 235 model anywhere).
Thanks and ANY info would be awesome, as I dont want to let this deal pass me buy if I dont want it to.

Welcome to OSO.
Here are a few old thereads that should get you started.

Seems like the 31' is a pretty popular model. Use the search in the upper right, and you'll probably find more....

I actually looked at one of those 235's many years ago. I thought that IMP went under long before 2002. Maybe they went under, came back, and went under again. Most that I have seen were late 80's to early 90's like this one, which is the same model you are looking at, at least name-wise.

I had looked at them in the past, as they seemed to be alot of boat for the money, and similiar looks / specs to a Formula 242 / Baja. A friend in the boat building industry told me he heard that IMP bought old hull molds from other companies, and built their boats off of those to save money - not the worst thing if done right. Again can't confirm that statement.
The one I looked at did have a stock 454 in it, so it is quite possible that is what came with it. That boat with a regular 454 should run somewhere around 60 give or take. I decided to stay with a known name brand and not go for it, but good luck with your decision.

Friend has a 88 25 that he bought brand new. It's a heavy good riding boat with a very deep X dimension.....which means it takes alot to get the boat to move. he has 500+ hp and is running low to mid 60's.
Does the 23 your looking at have a Bravo or Alpha drive ??
