Bronx-richmond (staten Island)-kings (brooklyn)-queens-nassau- Northwestern Suffolk-northeastern Suffolk-southwestern Suffolk- Southeastern Suffolk- 1145 Am Edt Sat Oct 15 2005 ...windy Conditions To Affect The Area This Weekend... The Low Pressure System Which Brought Record Rainfall To The Tri-state Area Is Finally Moving From Offshore Waters Toward Northern Maine. Although Rainfall From This System Has Come To An End...this System Will Become Tightly Wrapped...forming A Strong Pressure Gradient Between It And High Pressure Building Into The Midwest. West Winds This Afternoon Will Be Increasing To 15 To 25 Mph With Gusts To 30 Mph. Although These Wind Speeds Are Far Below Advisory Criteria...trees May Be Uprooted Due To The Saturated Ground And Result In Scattered Power Outages And Road Closures. Winds Will Approach Wind Advisory Criteria On Sunday As Winds Will Be Shifting Northwest And Increasing To 20 To 30 Mph With Gusts Of 40 To 45 Mph. These Winds...combined With Oversaturated Grounds... Will Be Able To Topple Large Trees And Cause Scattered To Numerous Power Outages And Road Closures. A High Wind Warning Or Wind Advisory Will Likely Be Issued This Afternoon For Sunday.

Just got home from a little run in the bay. WNW 20 mph and a 2' chop. We had a nice ride, Ran into by bro out there. He said they only saw debris @ the tip of the hook. And hit a couple of swells around the hook. (marine forecast called for SEAS 7' TO 10' on the ocean)

Calling for the WNW 22 mph tomorrow. I'm expecting a 2-3' chop crossing the bay with an occasional 4' swell. If tomorrow is anything like today, it'll make a nice ride crossing the bay to NY. (marine forecast calling for SEAS 4' TO 6' on the ocean) Marine forecast for NY Harbor on Sunday is W WINDS 20 TO 25 KT WITH GUSTS AROUND 30 KT. WAVES 2 TO 3 FT.
