Default Changing the name of a boat....proper procedure???

We want to change the name of the boat we bought. What is the proper procedure to keep the evil boat gods from haunting us?

I read the procedure on Boatersed.com.

I know you have to start by removing anything from the boat with the old name on it, including papers.

First, always use a blow torch to remove.

Last, plant the Mother Mary of Jesus statue in your backyard, pointing North of course.
