Boat lifts question?
 

I am trying to way out leaving the boat in the water this season or trailering it. I dont have much experience in trailering but I am a quick learner Right Mr. Gadgets> LOL
Did anyone see the boat lift with the remote at the NYC boat show I didnt get there but heard it was way cool. Can someone offer some input on this subject

if you go to the same place all the time lift it....if you travel from place to place like me....find yourself a BIG parking lot and practice backing into spots..etc. trailoring isn't hard at all with a little practice. i actually enjoy sportin my rig around for all the land lovers :D

I would not use a boat lift/boat house with a remote control lift. Forget to turn it off and crush your boat. Oh yes it does happen. :eek: Best way to do it is have one that you or someone else has to actually stand there and hold the switch.

Jane, I was wondering what he meant also.

The only reason I could see needing a remote for my lift would be to float it after taking the boat off and heading out. Only because it would keep cleaner (i.e. less growth). Then drop it again when I returned.

The biggest reason I guess I would not get one is because sometimes at my house, my garage doors go up and down due to stray signals. Wouldn’t want to get to the marina and the lift was down and the boat was sitting in the water.

Neat idea, but I like the remote engine hatch better. So many toys, so little money…

It is really easy, hoists are very nice too. I have been thinking about one fora while if you are gong to keepo teh boat ata marins or if you are already on the water they are great. DO NOT bottom paint your boat, it mkaes it slower, uglifies (made up a word) it, and will KILL the resale value if you can even sell it at all with paint. As for hoists there are a bunch of options available. go to www.boatlift.com they make the actual hydrohoist but there are few other companies out there that make similar products.

For a temporary thing it seems real reasonable. I priced one out for my 38' and it was about 3,500.00.

are those airdock thigns any good??? Looks like a good idea but it also looks liek it isn;t as good as a real solid hoist although winter storage for 3 airbags is a garage whereas a marinas charge for hydrohoist winter storage.

When I said crush the boat, if you are using a Boat House, or covered lift, with a actual lift not floating. If you leave it on and not paying attention or simply walk away it will continue to raise boat/lift until it pins the boat against the roof. This will crush top of boat and if not stoped then break and drop the boat causing sever damage. I have never seen it done, but have seen the results. Not the type of thing you bragg about.
