People will argue, but IMO there is hardly any difference in ride between the ride of a 25 outlaw and a 272, which are basically same length hull.

The exhaust issue can be solved w/ captains choice, it directs it through the prop just like your gayliner when the wife is aboard and when you wanna race around with it in the open position, it's switchable, and many of the boats that you are looking at will have it already installed. Mufflers also work but IMO not as well....

I've heard people say the 272 and 25 Outlaw are similar too. I'd go with that..... I like the graphics on a Outlaw with the SST package though. Both are great 2nd boats...

I have done a little research the last few days since I got this bug up my a**. Here is what I have found that is in the price range. Again, if you guys have the time, take a look and see if these are the "24 degree deadrise" kind of boats I should be looking at. So far, limiting myself to Baja, but did find one Formula, but expensive. Noticed a couple of Bajas marked Hammer. what is that?

Baja ol gives a great ride , owned mine for 15yrs now. alot more room than my buddys 24 super boat which is same size as a pantera and I beat him all the time I have 647hp he has about 550hp when it gets real rough I beat him bad :D . he has the 7ft beam too I have 8ft plus deeper cockpit, the 252 and the ol 24 would be my picks but if you can get the 25ol thats perfect for everyone. don't forget its getting cold in most states see if they will come down on the prices $5000 that would pay for shipping and I now someone who delivers boats across the country. and look at them in person.the boats.

Forget the Hammer's, not an Outlaw series (ol ). The 21's are too short and the two bowriders were not offshore hulls.

Bugs?!? There are no bugs in So Cal! :D :D :D

Meet me at lake Elsinore tomorrow morning at 10AM and you can check out my new 25 Outlaw. I'll be going on a test run with the dealer then hauling it back to Vegas.

Don't get a Hammer, it's a 21 degree dead rise. Same as the 20 Outlaws you are looking at. They are great boats (I bought one new in 2003) but a little small for the ocean. I wanted to upgrade after my first ocean run. They only come with a 5.0 mag and Alpha and are good for about 60MPH (no way on 70 unless modified).

That 24 Outlaw in Florida looks pretty good. I can check out the 25 Outlaw that's in Vegas for you if you'd like.

My friend has a 25 Active Thunder that has high freeboard (a very deep cockpit) that makes you feel safe. It also has a real good sized cabin for a 25 foot boat.

I had a 24 Baja Outlaw and have no compaints but the 25 is much nicer and has a bigger entrance to the cabin.

BajaFresh, I appreciate the Lake Elsinor offer, but have a commitment I can't break. Definitely next time you are in the neighborhood though.

I am probably going to hop down to Newport Beach to the Baja Dealer next weekend to fawn over the new boats and sell the wife on the upgrade.

I am currently gathering spec/market info on recent model Outlaw 23's, and 25's assuming I enjoy the feel and ride of course. I am confident the 23 will fit my storage requirements and tow load. Can I pack an Outlaw 25 into a 27' storage space? And total weight with fuel and trailer? I am willing to go to a fabricator post purchase to hinge the tongue if necessary.

Re: Question regarding offshore boats

Go to Hahm Motorsports in Anaheim on Ball Rd. Ask for Travis Ginter. They gave me a rocking deal on my 25.

I don't think a 25 will fit in a 27' spot. It's 26&1/2 with the swim step and the drive will stick out a bit when up. Even if you left the drive down the tongue would still protrude some. You'd have to have the tongue hinged below the bow and I don't think that can be done. The 23 would probably just squeeze in there. It's a very nice boat too. I don't know if they have any in stock at Hahm. If they do they will take you for a demo ride if you're serious. The 25 weights 4750 dry so fueled up with trailer your probably looking at 6000. The 23 is about 1000 lbs lighter.

Hahm also have a couple of the Baja Performance series boats there. They also have a 24 dead rise but have the built in swim step as opposed to the aluminm "racier" style on the Outlaws. They may be better suited for the family and they will deal on an in-stock boat. Easy financing with 15 years plans! If you are going to finance, shop the loan though. There are many financial institutions giving boat loans and the dealer may not have the best rates. Good luck!

I'm leaving in about ten minutes to go get mine! :D

Re: Question regarding offshore boats

I think the 23 is too small for the ocean. Minimum on the 25 or even go to a 29. If the the storage does not work, can you store it at a marina? Some marina's around here are cheap if you just leave the boat off to the side on a trailer. Anyway, I would try and work out of that limitation. New boats with loans keep you from buying other people's problems and often are a better choice for the family..... You get exactly what you want... or at least believe what you want. Remember, few boaters stay with the same boat for long. They upgrade because the one they are in is too short, too old, not enough power or not enough room. The bigger and close you can get to what you really want the longer you will keep the thing. Also don't forget you get your butt handed to you on the trade in's - but in this case perhaps a dealer could take your dayliner in on trade... Don't expect much though.... Going to the dealer is the right move - ask alot of questions. Leave lot's of brochures around the house for the wife to see, reduces the shock and awe..... All the best.

Boy, did you ask your question in the right place! Lots of good info here.

Just remember to take your time and DON'T fall in love with any boat right away. (Good advice for female relationships too!).

Buying a boat is an emotional experience for many new buyers. Use your brain rather than your heart. Let an expert check the boat out for things wrong you never even thought of.

If you find anything in the South Florida area, call me and I will preview it for you BEFORE you spend the money to fly here. (954) 895-4633.
