Re: Motor Shipped from TX to Long Island

usually they are for crate motors or longblocks. If your going to ship that way then use a pallet and mount it to it, and use straps. Fedex ground is just RPS under the fedex name. You're better off using an ltl carrier and go dock to dock...

Maybe able to take blower off and fit it in Merc container.Don't think I'd ship it w/blower on anyway.

Thanks !!!!

I believe they plan on crating it on a pallet and building a box around it.... it is going up without exhaust and tranny.... is this the best way.... we tried a couple containers but they were too small...cant locate any bigger ones yet

Think I'd drve boat to JC's during winter.Have JC put motor back in,then water test/dial boat in, get max potential out of your boat.

If you can have it dropped off and you can pick it up at a Forward Air terminal then they will be your best bet. I have used them a few times to ship large things and they have been very good and are quick. They also will rent you crates to put it in.

They don't give those things away, the core charge for the crate is more the the core on a rebuilt engine and they still want the crate back when you buy a new engine too.

He has the same boat and same set up... if it doesnt run I will bring it up to him or I might be back East by then so I agree but I will most likely dial it in over the phone and use him as a guinea pig for what I sould do with mine :D

Masher, I use SAIA for shipping engines everyday going all over the country. Make sure you have a sturdy engine stand.
