Just to clarify, after running the pink through, are you suggesting to pump the rest out with the handle pump? Or just leave the residual in there.

Thanks

I pump out and drain as much water from running on the hose.

THEN run the RV antifreeze through the system.

And LEAVE it in there till Spring.

I have 2006 model year 496 ho. This set up does not have a standard fuel filter/water seperator. There is an inline fuel filter as well as a small elemental type filter that is located in the fuel body. I have done the fuel seperator/oil method on my older 502's, but since these engines do not have the seperator, where would the oil go? The capacity of this area is no more than 3 ounces also.

My buddy/neighbor has 2006 496HOs as well. We winterized by just pouring 2-stroke oil right into the cavity that the F/W separator sits in. We used the German method; "Guudenplenty."

This is related to the German Torque wrench measurement; "Guudentite."

I have a question. I winterized my 496`s and couldnt get the motors to prime with the air pressure menthod on it own. I wound up having to run water to the drives and finally getting it to go thru the exhaust. Then I hooked up the antifreeze with the air pressure method. I then had pink coming out the exhaust. But I didnt drain the water before I ran the antifreeze to it. Thinking that it wouldnt prime up the pump. Do you think that is OK? Or do I need to start over? This is the first year of winterizing this boat

Are you referring to my "air pressure method" by pressurizing the 5 gallon antifreeze jug? Just checking...

Which AF did you use? -50 or -100?

Yes I used the air method and I used the -50.

It seemed alot of the antifreeze just ran out the front of the drives (bravo1). But like I said earlier. There was antifreeze coming out if the exhaust. The boat is store in my shop in a truck bay. So I wouldn't think it would get to cold. Maybe upper 20's at the most.

I'd venture to say you will be OK, but it's not my boat!

If anything goes south, it would probably be the heat exchanger.

Gee thanks! :) I'll put a heater in my dock bay just to be on the safe side and a temp gauge.
