looking at buying a newer boat. susation.
I am looking at a 1997 288 sunsation.
It needs some work interior is ok exterior is good motor is bad. stepped hull ..
I currently have an old baja 25 1986 with a trs and new motor gen4 with a bunch of money and time in it and the boat only goes 56 mph. and a newer 2001 trailer.
so if I buy the boat take my new motor out put it in the new boat put another motor in the old boat try to sell it without a trailer for 6000 .
buying this boat for 20000 is this a good price in todays economy?
will I get the speed out of it. With 450-470 hp

I don't think $20k for a trashed 288 with a bad motor is a good deal compared to boats like the 1995 29' Scarab

Speed on a Budget
How about a 70mph 29 Fountain with STOCK Twin Big block Merc's, Bolsters, K-Tabs, Bullet proof TRS drives and a decent Eagle Trailer. I will trade for your boat. Easy on the Budget and Fit's your Wants. How many engines have you had in and out of the Baja? I can work with you.

I'd pass on it. You will probably have $30k into it by the time you get it into the shape you want. And for that you can find a better boat.
You can have my boat for $30k and it will have a fresh rebuilt 454 mag. Just have to wait until spring to get it though.
