It may be a bot that is attempting to log in. Bots get usernames off the post's then attempt the most common passwords.
Vbulliten as well as every other websites utilize numerous methods to thwart bot logins and signups.
The offshoreonly administrator should review logs and determine if adjustment to settings or additional safe guards should implemented.
Allowing bots to run against a website can bring the website to a crawl, while increasing bandwidth usage costs.
Posting here is most probably useless, as the bots run sans human action, after the start button is pushed.

x2. I have a finger in the pc biz and there has a been a CRAZY amount of hacking/hacking attempts across a wide variety of platforms and media over the last 72 hours. One of the widest we have seen in ages. Good for my biz, bad for you security.

Not disin APF, but it is only a front end for iptables. One is is better off learning iptables rules and writing them yourself, as front ends simply do not encompass all the possibilities. Though, a front end does help a beginner get up and running right away without a catastrophic mistake.
People should be running a router/modem with firewall then a dedicated firewall and intrusion detection device like Untangle then a firewall on each computer in the lan.
Simple matter of making it difficult enough, they will move on to an easier fish to fry.
Untangle is open source (free), with paid for components for more advanced needs.

The pre-built devices they sell are a bit pricey. Use an old computer or a $200 micro computer to run untangle which will suffice for most home small business needs.
