Can anyone give me some info about the Tourque V12 motors that were around for a while? They seemed to be the hot set-up, then they vanished.

so "unlimited" doesnt really mean unlimted? That sucks. Callan has his hand in there somehow and the engines are pretty awesome, but underpowered for a superboat unlimited. They sound better then V8's too. THey are Naturally aspirated, but If somone put the time and money into getting a blower on them they might kick some major A$$. They have some more cool stuff in the works though.

Ryan Falconer builds a 600 inch v-12 that in twin-supercharged configuration makes 1600 hp. The motor was originally designed for the P-51 Mustang replica planes and is FAA certified in that configuration. Ryan has been around for 30 years and has built engines for just about every major racing circuit. Unlike Torque, he's not dependent on one market for his business to survive.

Interesting website, thanks for posting it. Is Falconer's v-12 based on the small block Chevy? The Torque v-12 is based on a 4.5 bore, 4.5 stroke big block so it has the advantage of more cubic inches. With supercharging 2000 hp should be possible.

I'm glad that tubines have not been allowed in offshore racing. The lack of thunder in Thunderboat racing has cost part of it's appeal imho. Standing on the breakwall in Key West, the Callen boat would make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. And the Bud boat was just plain LOUD! Also, think of all the technology that's filtering down to us little guys from racing. Big cube engines and superchargers for instance.

It is my understanding that Sterling is no longer involved in the Torque program. If interested in these you should contact Dave Callan directly.

I always thought the Torques were a great idea - after all, there's no replacement for displacement, and 860 cubes are almost two 454's in *one* package!

No, not the Chev. Similar architecture to the normally aspirated cosworth v-8 but on a larger scale.
