Seen it, too slow, too expensive.

I have checked on a daily basis for the last month for new ads. Let me summarize. None within 1500 miles that will work for me. Expensive newer ones far away. Cheap older ones with good engines TOO far away! I use boattrader, ebay, iboats, boatsville, boats.com, and Inland auto (local dealer)

Keep up the suggestions though!

Sounds good. You may have to travel to get the boat you want. There are plenty of people on here who will do the initial investigation to tell you if you are wasting you time to see if you should make a trip or not. We will keep our eyes open. Good luck.

Just a thought, check out the Sunsation 288. You can get them with a windshield I believe, integrated transom/swim platform, and a GREAT package overall.

I forgot to add. Budget : 25-30K. I will have to beg my wife to get that up to 35 -40K, but that is doable as I am a good husband! I figure Sales tax plus 1-2K in Electronics and we have a net max here of 35k-37K

Do you have you heart set on a Baja? There's other boats out there with a windshield and swim platform.

God I'm a lucky man I just told my wife that is want were getting, and she said if that is what makes you happy buy it :D Man I love my wife. :drink:
If you are looking at boats try to find a PQ they have alot of room and take the water great, I've owned a 24, 29 and a 38.

I will tell you why I am focusing on Bajas. 2 primary reasons. Clean interiors and availability. To me, the Baja's have the "whitest interior". My Bayliner has glued carpet, wood particle board flooring, the vinyl takes ocean tar too easily, ugly loud colors and scratches everywhere. Just a real dirty boat after a day with the family and Cheetos. I am a 90 degree angle kind of person. The Baja I think gives the simplest, cleanest interior with no gimmicks. After a dirty day, just pull the carpet and hose down, instead of a weekend of scrubbing and vacuuming. IMHO, some other manufacturer's boats (especially West Coast custom shops),focus more on the paintjob, the mid cabins, tunnels to the bow, bimini, and give you a 5 liter for the engine, all for $70,000 (40K used). Plus, there is only one available if you are lucky, not the myriad of Baja models available.

One more thing. Maybe it is a Socal thing, but Baja people tend not to put 10K sound systems in their boats. Now, I am a subwoofer kind of guy myself, but I am not going to pay a premium on a used boat for it! I never find this an issue with the Baja's.

For the record, I am open to any manufacturer with clean roomy interiors, deep v deadrise (23-24), great engine options, and a decent used price and availibility. Something in my mind has to click, and so far, it is only the Baja's that have caught my eye.
