Re: 625hp in a 29' Fountain?
I'm getting about 86 mph on GPS with a 1991 29' with twin
HP465's (502's w/ Bravos) without pushing it. Never have accurately checked it hung out with just one person on board, cause I was too busy "drivin' it" OR |
Re: 625hp in a 29' Fountain?
friend has a 92 27 w/ 750hp. Runs 90. All over the place. Ive been told the 29 is more effecient than the 27 though???

Re: 625hp in a 29' Fountain?
Yea, I wasn't expecting it either and initially wrote it off to the mechanical
speedo cause it was bouncing between 85 and 90 for years. Freshened up the motors due to piston cracking issues several years ago, but put it back mostly stock since there was no motivation to improve due to the rough water at Grand and also the low exit of the exhaust with wet stacks, I could not get too agressive with cam overlap. The less maintenance on that thing is best, since the bilge is not "fatboy friendly" Also with the twin big blocks, you always will get "hey, your boat is sinking" comment cause it is pretty butt heavy. |

01 29 Fever F1 89.6 top speed w/ 500 EFI I found that approx 81-83 when she was starting to lift out of the water was the tricky part, after that yes you had to be careful but she handled quite nicely. I know people get a rush or a bigger pecker from more horsepower but the boat I mention goes to show that HP isnt everything, its weight, balance, Center of Gravity, bottom blueprinted and 3 years of testing, now it has the kilo records to prove it. Just trying to advise you to think of everything b4 just throwing money away on bigger power. For ex one time, we gained .7 mph by adding a simple 2 $27.00 bags of 25 lbs of buckshot to the bow. Just my .02 Trent |

Re: 625hp in a 29' Fountain?
Hey Cameron, Why did you thank yourself in the last post?
Are you building the motor or Outsourcing? If you want to go to the custom look, we do a 572 ci Hydraulic roller for wet exhaust. 725 hp, 750tq. Dart Big M block, (MarkIV) |
Re: 625hp in a 29' Fountain?
My 03 29 with a 525efi hit 78 everyday regardless of load and 80+ on a few occasions...
