Some GPS suggestions...?
Looking to buy a GPS in the next couple weeks, what have you got, what should I be looking for....?
I'm not looking to break the bank here, just something basic, easy to operate, and easy to see at speed. Any suggestions would be helpful, I'm starting at ground zero here. Thanks in advance, may the summer come quickly! |
Re: Some GPS suggestions...?
I have a norstar 952 works awesome paid about $3,000.00
The garmin 172 on my formula works ok$600.00 but is much smaller screen wise,it works really good for the price!!I believe they make a 178 which also has a color sounder and split screen for around $700.00?At least you can view bottom contours and get accurate depth recordings. Those cheap ass depth finders all say the same thing 11.5 feet even though its 2 feet. |
Re: Some GPS suggestions...?
Look at the Garmin 182c or the new 192c the color screen is easy to read even in direct sunlight and it has all kinds of great stuff it will tell you. The 192 has the database built in so you don't need to buy cartridges-great if you travel with the boat.

Re: Some GPS suggestions...?
My wife just bought me a Garmin 192C for Christmas. :evilb: I was pretty impress she picked it out herself. I didn't even know she was getting me one. I'll give you a review after I use it this week in Miami.
My current Garmin is 7 years old and still works great. It is not color and has no light. Which was pretty useless at night when you need it the most! I used my cell phone light at night to see it. |
Re: Some GPS suggestions...?

270 Laser,
I'm in the market for a system as well. I like the idea of the 182 or 192 because you can also set it up in your vehical as well. I'd also like to hear what you think. |
