Action videos of your boats
 

I'm sure quite a few of you guys have read the thread about the close fly-by video, and many have commented, on it's quality, whether the content itself was appropriate or not.

What would the general concensus be about a specialised service, offering video production for boat owners of their own boats?

It's dawned on me that we have set our selves up with all the equipment, specific to the job (suction mount waterproof cameras, water proof recorders, etc. ) and as our line of work is Audio-visual (mainly in the conference & event industry) we have the expertise to put all the 'on board', hand held HD, and other footage together into the kind of quality 'Action video' that any proud boat owner would like to have.

Coverage of the owner running a poker run, or just out 'doing it', is what i'm thinking of.
I'm sure everyone likes to re-live their summer boating fun, when the weather is keeping them well & truely land-locked, I know I do!

So, Is there a market for this in the 'world' home of Offshore powerboating?

I just have one question for you, where is your throttle located on your boat?

Our videos are located in our Gold, Platinum, VIP section of the site where our media server is located.

I have a foot throttle in my cat and pair-a-dice does as well, he drives and throttles, I have been working alot and really not up to speed, is this the guy/boat that was driveing recless and buzzing people???

Yeah, here in the UK, and Europe, the larger stuff, UIM Class I & II, and some P1 Endurance, use in the main,, Hand throttle with a dedicated throttleman, indeed, this was my position when racing here in a National class boat. but most smaller classes, especially the OB classes, commonly run with foot throttles.

Particularly in single engined boats, when running in rough conditions, the co-ordination tween steering and throttle to maintain pitch & roll stability is pretty hard if two people are sharing the job..with the correct seating position (legs out in front of you, race car style) and one person doing it all, I believe (as clearly do most smaller boat racers) that the foot throttle set up is superior. Imagine if you will, trying to run this 18 foot, 600 kilo (just over half a ton) 80mph boat, in rough conditions with someone else controling the power!!..no thanks!

Incidentally, the two leading boats in this race are from the same builder as mine.

I prefer the foot throttle arangement in my boat, although the hand throttle (twin, side mount, single lever opperation) also works for cruising at steady speeds.

We quite like rough water here, it sorts the men from the boys.

Jon, I don't have a prob with the video. I would have if you didn't know the guy on Fairlane. I bet most of us have done the same thing.

Pair-a-Dice..correct with the pedal throttle. I think the original passenger/navigator left the team. Gets boring on the other side of Rick.

It really does go without saying, that I wouldn't have been 'buzzing' the The Fairline, if he hadn't been part of our shoot! Nuff said about that vid now I think.

That Cat (Pair-a Dice) looks gorgeous! what is it?

Did you say he's foot throttling that boat?

Pair-A-Dice is a 42 foot MTI, built by Randy Scism. I think Rick has 1550hp Sterlings in it. We here at GeoGraphics did the paint work on it. Check out Rick's race site at

I would imagine that's pretty lively with 1550's!!

The Tencaras in Class1 are running IRO 160mph with 900-950hp, so it must be quite a ride.
