Default Extension Box & X-Dim chat...

Just curious if extension boxes make a boat feel longer or ride better in rough stuff? Any additional information about the benefits of boxes would be great also? Would they be a waste of time on a 28 Daytona or skip the boxes and try a shorter drive? Just looking for more speed and effiency.

size matters (if they can feel its longer, than thats better) neways....you can get imco boxes that will raise your outdrive 3 inches too

h 220 by putting boxes on you move cg back father back. plus you move x dem up you can run a higher x and still get clean water to the props . higer x les drag more speed . on out boards a jack plat has set back built in most ov the time father back les power is used to hold the bow up and more power is used to push it forward i/e faster speed . robbie

I've been eyeing these for quite some time now, but was concerned if going up 3" would be too much. Isn't there a rule of thumb to raise the x an inch for every so much set back? I run 5 blade P5X's, so that should help.

Talked with Reggie on this once and I beleive he said that 12" back sets you deeper 7/8" in X.
BTW...If anyone needs the IMCO extension input shafts, I have 2 I could let go cheap.

So with the IMCO 12" set back you'd drop an inch or 7/8" but then gain 3" back resulting in a 2" raise?

Anybody have these particular IMCO boxes with the 3" lift? Is this how it works?

At 12" back, you would have to raise your "X" 7/8" to equal what you had.

Can't be more of a project than pulling the engines to add hp? I can see a possible hassel with relocating the external steering and covering up where they were mounted on the transom, but what's involved in adding the boxes? It seems like it would be bolt on stuff to me.

Yep, its bolt on but the steering has to be moved.
I went 12" back with -2 lowers.
