Re: Can Cigarette Keep Smokin'?
does a shark have a water tight azz? they are the #1 offshore boat brand for recognition and as long as the continue to make a first class boat for a reasonable price they should do well, i think national going down hurt cig a good bit but im sure they will be around for years to come.

If the average retail price has doubled to about 400k in the last 3 years, like stated in the article, then the guys out there trying to sell their USED 02-03 boats are asking what they were new ? Hmmm...

Re: Can Cigarette Keep Smokin'?
I didn't have the opportunity to read the article but it's my understanding that cigarette has netted more money on licensing and clothing sales than on boat sales since the late 80's, or maybe it was in the company history. I don't remember the details or where or when I read thier financial report but I found that interesting.
Does anyone know for sure if that's accurate? It came as a surprise to me at the time but after giving it some thought I think it is most possible or probable.

Thanks for #1
As far as #2...Those new step hulls that are designed by Mr. Braver must really be efficient to only burn 15 gallons per hour, per engine!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that $300 per hour would be a more accurate figure.....unless you are burning race fuel, then it's more like $600/hour, trust me on that!!
1. Others like to compete, usually in races called "poker runs," in which captains zoom from stop to stop collecting aces and queens. For most, though, it's all about image.
2. What doesn't seem to matter to speedboat owners is an uncertain economy or the spiraling price of fuel, which can cost about $100 an hour of cruising at 80 mph.

Re: Can Cigarette Keep Smokin'?
The scary thing is only 400 offshore boats priced over $400K were sold in the year before the article was written.
I would have thought more.
