Re: 31 sonic vs 35 fountain ?
I have a 35 sonic with twin 750 hp and the boat runs 94 mph put that power in a fountain and it goes 102 mph.The sonic has more cabin space and cockpit space but I think the fountain rides alittle better.

I have driven and sold both boats many times over the years.
Here's some good info:
The Fountain gains 18" with the beak and another 24" with the swim platform. The Fountain is faster with the pad bottom and steps that the Sonic does not have.
The Sonic is a drier ride and has more head clearance in the cabin, but will probably be slower.
Both are great boats and fun to drive. The Fountain is less forgiving if you screw-up, so the Sonic is safer in inexperienced hands. Both are hand-laid up with bonded hulls and decks. Both use good ingredients to finish off their designs.
Hope this is helpful.

I've been in both but only riden in a fountain. The cabin in the sonic is MUCH bigger than the fountain. Plus the pull out bed option rocks!

You can run the Sonic standing up without looking like a dork. Much more freeboard in the Sonic.
No need to learn left hand throttle with the Sonic, although, the Fountains I have run, it didn't feel that out of place. Wouldn't take long to get used to it.
