Formula 400 SS - QUESTIONS ???

OK .... For those that have experience , or know guys with them ......

1. Where do they keep them ?

2. Bottom paint on most , or not ?

3. How are the drives holding up on them ?

4. Do they like 'em once they get them home ... or is it "Man , this thing was the **** at the boat show , but now that we've had it for a while , I'm not so crazy about it ... " ?

Thanks ! Let's hear it !

My best friend just bought one this past summer, it was a year or two old and he absolutey loves it. He looked at a lot of them and bought one with the Diesels, from a guy in Naples. He installed a 20,000 lb. Hi N Dry lift, and they had no drive problems. He keeps the boat at another friends house that just bought a new 2006 37 SS mid summer, and no problems with that boat this year either.

We sold 2 last year and will be ordering a new one this week. they are awesome boats, have never had a problem with any of them. One that we sold last year with 525s will run 62mph, not to bad for a 16000lb boat. You will be hard pressed to find an unhappy Formula owner, build quality / fit and finish are 2nd to none.

My folks have the 370 which is pretty much identical to the 400. They are buying an 07 400ss with the hardtop this Summer.

They LOVE the boat. No bottom paint because it stays on the lift. The drives have been fine. They originally were getting a Sea Ray but decided not to due to the dramatic speed difference. They can load the boat up with all of their friends and run 50+mph anywhere on the water. It's a great express cruiser.

We take it out every once in awhile and it will spoil you! :drink:

Re: Formula 400 SS - QUESTIONS ???

I had a Sea Ray 38SS which is the same type boat. I trailered it all over california and lake havasu. What I lacked in speed I made up for in comfort. When I was making a run with my scope friends I just left 15 minuites early to be at our lunch stop at the same time. I have been looking at the 40ss for a couple of years now. I love the boat. I have talked to Myco and the boat will fit on a trailer which for me is important. Yes its alot of boat to tow but you just have to be careful. Yes you can't do 100mph but you won't spill your drinks either. I tested the diesel version at last years Miami show and it was fantastic. If you don't need to go fast and want comfort from the wind and weather go for it

Go with the 350 hp Volvo diesels. Top end of 50, but cruises effortlessly at 40+ and only burns 25 gph (total!!) at the same time. VERY NICE BOATS.

I like them also, and was doing some reserch on both the Formula's and 41 Donzi. I think they are great boats. I just wondered if anyone put big power in them say like some 750- 900's and surface drives. Didnt mean to jump on your thread, Thanks Jeff
