Rob,
Are those valve covers aluminum? If so, how do you keep them from pitting?
I have a similar set on my motors and they got pitted from spray-nine and salt water.. I tried never-dul with bad results. Then I used Woody Wax with the brass polishing pad and that worked the best but it's still not like chrome.
I could always take them off and buff them out but don't know how to protect them, I would assume clear coat would just peel off in due time?

Aluminum...There new for this summer.I don't get much spray in the engine compartment ,I had them on my Scarab and had to take them off every year and polish them.Never dull is weak stuff. They claim a protect ant, which I think has wax in it but it will not last and salt water will still leave water spots on it .All I ever use on the motors is Windex. They never get greasy enough to put anything else on them.I am sure I will have to polish the valve cover a few time a year, something to do on my Wednesdays off I have seen on a lot of drag cars they chrome plate the alum valve covers. The clear turns yellow from the heat and it want stick to a polished cover.
