Fun Run Vs Race FLL to Bimini Mch 30,31 return April 2,3

Ok, folks this seems do able. How likely would you participate in a RACE vs fun run, leaving FLL March 30 or 31st to Bimini, returning regular cruise April 2 or 3rd. Natch there would be broad class groups dependant on speed, v vs cat etc. as per a previous post about this a few months ago.

Assuming a few final pieces fall into place, could make this happen by Wednesday next week.

Once you buy a Bahamian entry pass, it is good for two runs over within 90 days. Could do a fun run over the first time end of March, then a full on RACE a month or two later. Insurance is an issue all around. Interested in your thoughts by Monday.

I personally couldn't go that early in the year. I hope to make the trip late summer if I can swing it. It would have to be a fun run for me, but I'd love to watch a race over and back.

I just watched the video of the Miami-Bimini race from the early 80s?sponsored by Apache. Those guy were were getting beat on.

It looked like real offshore racing for sure!

My sentiments exactly. I would love to, though.

Biggest problem I see is that the water can get REALLY rough in the Gulf Stream. It would be tough to plan such a thing so people with moderate sized boats (like mine) could run. You might end up with only Apaches running.
