Tank - The #6 was born as the "Kiekhafer" drive over 20 years ago. Mercury took it over when the #5 couldn't compete and they bought out Kiekhafer. It's dry-sumped now because Weismann did it first 9 years ago, and the swept-back skeg update was to follow Hering's design 7 years ago. If it wasn't for those other guys, a 2006 #6 would be the same as a 1988 #6.

JS232 - 6.5 mph on one engine; 8.9 mph on two. 800 rpm/1.47:1 gear ratio, 27.5" pitch, 12,000 lbs. They don't screw around around the docks - you don't leave 'em in gear for long.

Bob - I'm the one lighting the fuse (again). By the way, I saw your older brother (Sy Goldberg) in Miami.... (running)

Weismann might have done it first and got their attention, but the Merc version is done quite a bit different with similar results. The skeg shapes from Herring and Merc both showed up at almost the same time on the race circuit. Merc just waited to get it into production for general use while Herring did quite a few conversions (and I think still does).

Too little too late.... If the cust service was better I would consider but they lost my business last year and I doubt I'm the only one.

Maybe they will take my two good Extreme SC's and two broken ones in on trade and give me the new package for free....
