Default What do you guys do about getting out of the sun?

My wife says she needs to be able to get the kids out of the sun when they are on it. Does that umbrella looking thing work when hanging out at the sandbar? Could a bimini be made for when the boat is stationary or cruising at speeds less than 50 mph? Please help me with this or I will be getting a express cruiser with an arch and bimini instead of a 38ZR. I know I can not be the only man on here that has had this problem. My wife loves our Fountain 38LX because of the fixed top. I feel the need for speed! I do not want something like too much sun(I live in Florida) to get in my the way of my quest for 100 mph. Thanks Mike

nearly our entire group has those "umbrella things" and use them when rafted up for any period of time. They work pretty well and can be set up in 2-3 minutes tops.
Look for "anchor shade" they run around $150-200.00

Anchor shade works great for shade. You can either carry 4 bags to fill with sand to hold the 4 corners or carry a piece of pipe to drive into the beech to place the pole into. It will not work for on the boat while moving more then 5mph. No experience with biminis.

After some skin cancer problems I had a bimini made for our Cig that I ran up to 80 mph with no problems. It was all 1" stainless and the material was a mesh that filtered out 90% of the sun. On a lake it worked well, I would be worried though in some rough offshore conditions. It cost me about $1500.00. Anybody that does biminis should be able to make one for you.

I noticed that Fountain offers a bimini on their website. Does anyone have the bimini on their Fountain? Any pictures of it? How fast can you run with it?

There is clothing now being made that is specifially for protecting you against the sun.

It's really important if you are the "wrong" skin type to be wearing a high number of SPF sunblock and REAPPLY every two/three hours.

As I am still waiting to get the staples/stitches out of my 41st and 42nd MAJOR skin cancer surgeries, I have pretty fair knowledge of the skin cancer issues.

Most stock biminis will run 35, maybe 40 mph before you start putting too much pressure on them.

Might ask this in the Fountain forum. There are a couple that have them.

Do you have any pictures of the boat with the top up? Yes growing up in Miami and boating my entire life I am getting worried about skin cancer.
