help brownie! my gen III's wont fit 35 1/2 inch centers
hey brownie i need some help over here...i have a 35ft mistress with eng's on 35 1/2 inch centers im installing gen 3's on and was talking to fred at trick he told me the gen 3's would fit 35" centers. i bought a pair of the gen 3's from mindi at doller and a pair from full throttle marine. the set i got from full throttle fits perfectly and i can fit my hand between the manifolds, the set i got from doller does't fit by about a 1/4 inch. the manifolds are the same with the exception of the flange. the set that fits has a flange about 3/8 of an inch thick the other set has a flange 3/4 of an inch thick! here are pics of the 2 sets, help mr. wizard......

If you will check your thread where you were asking about the GEN III I told you to be very careful about center distance. Have Brownie mill the thick flanges to match the thin flanges. Angle will be critical. I found that with a long through transom tailpipe in a transmission application the tail pipes need some kind of mid length support to maintain riser to tail pipe flange seal. Good luck. Joe Murray

not without cutting the outer edge of the engine compartment 1/2" on each side which im not wanting to do. i wasn't aware that they made two different dimension gen 3's, fred looked it up for me and told me they will fit 35" which the one set does.

They make two different styles , the ones I sent you were for close centers (tall deck , aftermarket heads (raised exhaust ports )they mill the regular ones down . The regular ones are the purple ones you have . When you order them you tell them your application and they will send you the apporiate manifold. Tom

We actually have three different widths. The narrowest ones usually have a problem with the valve covers. Take your fat ones to a local machine shop and have them milled to suit. First, look at the gap between the manifold and the valve cover and don't go narrower than that. Good luck......
