Default 29 Fastec Formula vs. 28 Donzi ZX hulls

I was checking out the Washington D.C. boat show this weekend and I was most impressed with the 29 fastec forumula with twin small blocks. Very nice boat and realistic to own for me if I looked for a 5 year old example- for maybe 40-50k.

How do these boats compare to the Donzi 28's? I have a 22 classic now, but researching a nice twin that'll handle rougher water and have a cabin to sleep in while camping. It has to be affordable for a Navy guy though :-(

I'm thinking twin small blocks would be the most affordable way to get twins, and be easier on fuel too.

Just wondering how similar the hulls are- like if one is a pig and one goes 10mph faster with the same HP.

BTW, the 38 Donzi with staggered 525's was AWESOME- but costs more than my house.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find a used 292 Formula for 40-50K unless it has been sunk. Quality is great on the Formula, can say about the Donzi. I have a Formula 312 and had to add an extension to the bed to sleep on it comfortably. A buddy that has a 292 sleeps in the floor and his wife sleeps in the berth because the space is limited up there. His has twin 6.2's (320 hp) and runs 68-70GPS.

Both nice boats, but I agree on the pricing issue. Gonna be hard to get a clean Donzi or Formula for those bucks.

I do think you might be able to find a decent Baja Outlaw 29...

I don't think you could go wrong with either boat, as both are high quality. Based on looks, I like the Donzi. It will come down to personal preferance. Take a ride in both and check them over. Good Luck

Thanks for the info- looks like I'll save up for a couple more years to get a nice one.
