Trailer Axles - Torsion vs Sping
Looking to purchase a trailer for a 38' Fastech, can anyone shed some light on what is the best way to go regarding axle type?

Re: Trailer Axles - Torsion vs Sping
Torsion axle is best. Springs are old technology. We have been using Torsion axles for over 10 years now, never an issue.Blow out a tire? Take it off and keep on truckin, can't do that with springs.Drop a wheel in a hole?Doesn't bother the other side like springs would. I can see no reason to stay with springs, everything we buy now is torsion axle.

Re: Trailer Axles - Torsion vs Sping
Torsions are smoother and quieter. However the load doesn't transfer evenly among the axles if the trailer is not level or when going over curbs. A level trailer is must with torsions. My last trailer had torsions, and when going over curbs, the 1 axle would lift off the ground. That put all the weight on the other tire. The boat was able to sit lower also. Just incase you may have a close clerarance issue with a garage door. Other wise I loved it. But I did order the current trailer with springs just for the always equal load caring wheel, regardless of tongue hieght. No regrets.

With a torsion axle trailer, each axle acts as an independent axle. On a leaf axle trailer, the axles work together to equalize the load. I don't know how much weight you are planning on pulling, but I personally wouldn't pull anything but a spring trailer, and I've pulled both. I know everyone has their opinions on this one, so the best advise I can give you is to go and pull both! Let's not even get into the changing of the flat tire.

Mopower,
Thanks for the pics, sounds like it's 50/50 on what people choose to put on their trialers. I do not plan to do a lot of trailering but that could change down the road. When you speak to the manufacture they confuse the 'H" out of you as well.
