Me likeee! Wish I had the cockpit room and a step hull. A little more freeboard than my 29 scarab would be nice too! Much rather stand behind the boat and work on the motors than laying on top of the i/o engines in my jam packed bilge. Good luck !

If it will run faster than similar sized I/O's than I don't care if it's got eggbeaters or not.
Look at what's selling now, faster is better and price and maintenance matter. Good quality and looks with speed and the right price point WILL sell. With insurance rates, that might be the way of the "in it for the sport" performance boater.
I'd have to consider it with Fla's insurance rates today.

I have owned eight outboard boats, two were twins and one was a triple 30'. Go to a Poker Run in a O/B and they snicker at you. Been there, done that. A performance boat has to rumble. It's like asking a Harley rider to buy a rice rocket. Want more proof? Look at the prices of used 32 Skaters O/B vs. 32 Skater I/Os. Big difference. Very small market for large performance vee hull boat outboards. Make that boat a center console fishing boat and it will sell more units.

Therin lies one of the problems. There is just so many horses you can get with the ob, and you are pretty much done. With I/O's, the only limit on power is your wallet.

im a fan of the white fairing too. i think you have something there. i have a activator step bottom with ob now. real head turner, lot of people interested in this style as long as the price is right should be no problem. under 100 would get people interested good luck cant wait to see one finished

To me the point of the OB is to open up the cockpit for more entertaining room. It would be quieter for conversations too.
I like the rumble of a hot I/O over an eggbeater, but the ob's have their place.

True - however, for those of us that live up here north of the Mason-Dixon line and don't boat 12 mo out of the year, it's in part the $$$, but it's more the down time. Break a drive or blow a motor and you (still) have that down time, a lost weekend or limp home from a run... regardless of your check book balance. With the O/B's, yeah, you might not be doing 100 in a V but you could do 75-80 all day long and have a nice turn-key, low-maintenance package, just - splash - gas - and go.
They aren't for everyone but they are a good alternative...

Better yet, do a 30-32 with twin step and twin O/B's and then do a 24-25 with single step and single O/B. Now you're talking!!
