We have the Honda eu2000 you will be very happy with it, I would say borrow one and see if it will start up your AC. Also i would not considr teh eu200 bulky its like carring a 5 gallon can of gas. :drink:

I ordered a honda eu2000 yesterday from mayberrys for $899 no tax and shipping included. It should work for my 7k btu a/c.

I also ordered the hour meter for an extra $50

Re: Portable Generators

How are you securing the units to the swim platforms? Mine is a tube type, small cargo strap?

Could have saved a few bucks over Mayberrys if you had contacted me.

Re: Portable Generators

Keith, What Kind Of Rate For This Eu2000 And Is It Truly Safe To Run Off The Back Of The Boat For Overnighting. I Have Heard Several Horror Stories Of Carbon Monoxide. I Have Detectors But Just Wanted Your Safe Input. By The Way My 38zx Has Shore Power, Frig, Micro, Tv/vcr, And Ac/heat. My Frig And Tv/stereo Run On Dc But If I Had To Zap Something In The Micro In A Cove, Could This Size Gen. Handle The Power. Thanks Again.

I put mine on the bow and just run a line through the handle from cleat to cleat.

Re: Portable Generators

Clay,

I have a Honda eu2000i that will run my MarineAir VCP-10K unit with no problem, even on eco-mode. I'm here on Lake Travis if you want to plug it in and see if it'll crank up yours. It'll also run my fridge and charger at the same time.

I strap it to the swim platform and run an adaptor right into the shore power. The boat thinks its at the dock. I have a couple of CO detectors and they never even see a whif as long as we're anchored bow into the wind.

I'm up at Dutchmans (now Easy Street). We're out almost every weekend weather permitting if you want to give it a try.

Thanks, Dave. I don't have an A/C unit (yet), so I don't need a generator right now. However, if you sell your boat, I would be interested in buying your Honda Eu2000i. :)
