Adam, can you post some pic's of your fixed surface drive?

I wonder if the Yanmar 440 would have been a smarter choice looking at the weight differences.

Tiz It Done Yet? I don't know. Someone mentions fountains, and it comes and goes. Nobody cares. What gives with the Ocean Express. Oh well I guess the fountain owners are still trying to type with there beaks.

The Yanmar 440 weighs in at 1136 lbs without marine gear.
A ZF Single speed transmission for the 440 (280A) weighs 161 lbs.

Both would use the same 2-speed.

The Yanmar 500 weighs in at 1834 lbs without marine gear.
A ZF 2-Speed (300ATS) weighs 260 lbs.
A ZF Single speed transmission (301A) weighs 191 lbs.

This means the Yanmar 500 weighs between 728 lbs to 797 lbs more than each 440 package.

boot, i don't have all the details / info on the two speed, my dad's handling that. And as far as the weights on the diesels go, the reason he wants to use the 500 is due to the torque output. We're starting the first 49' hull next week, and should bulkheads and a fuel system in it by first or second week in feb, about the same time the deck plug is ready to shoot a mold onto. So, it won't be long now. We have a set of 900horse blower motors (wesco racing) that we're going to put in the first boat for testing, and have all the drive parts being fab'd and casted for us right now. With a little luck, we should have it in the water and tested ready for debut at Smoke on the Water 2002 (June)
The wind deflector/dash module we did for it is beautiful, as soon as the first one's done, I'll take some pictures for anyone who wants them.
