Default 1981 24' Pantera vs. 1978 26' Corsa - Which is the better of the two??

Hey Guys:

As I have been saying all over OSO these past few weeks, I'm looking to unload my 1973 20' Cigarette and get into a slightly larger boat. I've narrowed my short list down to either a 1981 24' Pantera or a 1978 26' Corsa, both big block/TRS boats. Which do you think is the better of the two? I'll be swapping the stock 454/370 from either boat into the 20' Cigarette and my 482/600 into the "new" boat. What do you think? Pros and cons please . . .

Thanks in advance,

Harry

I think that the TRS is a solid drive, but the technology is kinda old.
I'm referring specifically to the length of the leg and the depth of the leg in the water.
The X dimension suffers due to the Whole prop being submerged and you must trim to the moon to get max speed, making the boat unstable at max speed.

I don't mind old hulls, but I prefer outboards on jackplates so they can be properly trimmed for max speed.

Good Luck

All i know is my 1980 24' Pantera is as solid as a rock yet, and I don't think it had the best life. That boat loves to eat waves in Lake Michigan. There are no stress cracks anywhere on the hull.

I dont know the Monza although ive heard good things.. And the panteras are very solid , although any boat is suseptable to rot so make sure you tap around with a hammer.. TRS are great drives and now have a Konrad replacement, good luck

both boat's that your looking at are awsome boats. If the Corsa your thinking about getting is the one on the boat trader it has been for sale for everrrrr. I know where they're selling a 79 Monza that all it needs is paint

Mike:

I spoke to your dad about the Monza, I'd take it but I need something with a big block, because I am trying to swap stock big block power back into my 20' Cigarette to sell it. Glad to see another young guy like me on the board!

I would have to go with the larger hull,if you have the room, they get smaller when you put them in the water tripps

My brother had a 24' Pantera for a couple seasons. With a 24 degree deadrise and 7' beam it slices waves. It rides great. Over 70 MPH however it can get squirrely and that was with a 500+ HP single...

It is built very soild....remember minus the beak and platform it compares to a '29er.

he would buy one again ...the 28' Pantera with t-525's is a nice ticket too.
