Need Insurance Suggestion, Triple engine Baja

Hi guys

I recently acquired a 93 baja 420 with triple stock 454's. I have called a few insurance companies, and both have said they don't want to insure it, because its triple engine. Even though its a barge and far from a race boat the third engine freaks them out. Just looking for suggestions of good insurance co's

Thanks very much
Matt

pmaboatins.com

Top Dollar 845-356-7251 (Sy Goldberg)

Elton Proter Insurance 713-772-2991 (Ken Collier)

Boatus.com or800-283-2883

Hugh Cotton 800-654-0851
hughcotton.com

World Wide Marind 800-339-1235 (Bob Louellen)

Butler/Buckley/Deets 305-262-0086 (x222)

Also it you look through other threads in this section they have some more contact information.

Maybe you will have betterluck than me, happy hunting.

Guys, you should always check on the ability to insured before you make that large of a purchase. Just my .02 worth.

I didn't purchase the boat, just sorta inherited it for no money. Long story. If i were looking to buy a boat a triple engine baja wouldn't be top of my list.

That is one of the big reasons I did not buy the 420 I was looking at..

I have had offshore boats for 10+ years now... and always had decent priced insurance.. (under $1000) a year..

Called the insurance company and they said that their company policy does not allow them to insure trips... I called a couple companies and they all said the same thing.. Then I called one of the ones listed above..

$253 a month for a 11 year old boat,,, that only is capable of 60 mph and worth $90K maybe...

A friend just got a triple and they covered him because it was the continuation of a policy on his previous 35 footer. Or else they would not of issued a policy for it.

Sorry I cannot help you more. Good luck with that.

I have a 2003 Baja 442 and just received my renewal and I am in Florida. It did go up but I did have a loss this year. My trailer was stolen with a tongue lock and chains on both sides of the axles (two wheels chained together on each side. Anyway, it went up about 20 % over last year. The company is Ace USA and my policy is through my local agent. I am now paying a mere $5700.00 per year. I went from a 38 Special and paying about $2300 a year so it was quite a shock. Ace does classify the triple engines differently than the twins.
