Lake Cumberland Info
Thinking about going to Lake Cumberland for spring break. 3/29-4/02. Does anyone have info on places to stay, marinas, places to eat, things to look out for, etc. Live in Chicago land area. Dying to use boat. Hear it is a dry county. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff & Lynn

Cumberland is great but that early the lake might be dead.

Re: Lake Cumberland Info
Last year for the Poker Run I stayed at Jamestown Marina. Me and wifey got a 1 BR Fishermen's cabin. It was pretty cheap ($59/night I think). Not bad for a place to lay your head except for the cobwebs. They also have a lodge, but more expensive, and you have to dump your trailer 1/2 mile up the street at the entrance, where in the cabin you can park at the cabin. It's a very large resort and I recommend it. Great people and plenty to do. That's where we'll be staying again this year.
If you want close to the Falls, Grider Hill is another one. A group of locals from here that I know stay there and they return every year.

You might check in to renting a cabin/cottage or a room at Lake Cumberland State Park. Hands down it's the nicest place to stay on the lake. I've been going to Cumberland all my life and nothing even comes close to the state park for atmosphere and activities. The grounds are beautiful, beautiful overlooks of the lake, a restaurant that's open year round. The lodge has an indoor swimming pool with a game room. Putt putt golf, horse back riding, and a marina with overnight slips.
We have a place at Grider hill marina which is great but they don't open the restaurant and lodge until April 1st.
And BYOB - you can't buy takeout booze anywhere on the lake.
