Just spoke to the AMF Camp. The real show is Mr Warby in his new Jet powered machine. For some reason, he actually wants to break his old record of 317. He will probably hit 200+ at Crecent City as they are still in a test mode. There's be a PBS film crew in the air.

Thursday, March 30
· Film crew arrives
· AMF Haggin and Warby with his new boat arrive in CC. Arrival is filmed.
Friday, March 31
· 9 a.m. – Film Haggin and Warby in cameo cleaning strawberries with Commissioner Nancy Harris for her Catfish Festival booth. Strawberry cleaning is done at the Presb Church annex, corner of Prospect and Cypress, one block east of Hwy 17 and one block south of Central Ave.
· 11 a.m. – Warby and Haggin and drivers go across street from Presb Church to Miller Middle School & eat lunch or at least mingle with kids in cafeteria thru all lunch periods. Haggin and Warby talk to 6th graders in class, encouraging them to stay in school to be successful.
· Catfish Festival starts about noon – film AMF crews visiting the food booths for a SUPPER of fried catfish, (or wimp out & have bbq ribs) swamp cabbage, gator tail, frog legs, and, of course, Nancy’s STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE.
Saturday, April 1
Before 11 a.m. – PBS can film boats coming to town.
11 a.m.- Line up for parade
12 a.m.- Parade starts – PBS needs elevated platform – need man lift delivered on Friday
1 to 2 p.m. – After parade, park big boats in place to be determined
LUNCH at Catfish Festival
2 to 3 pm – Drivers visit Lakewood Nursing Home residents
2 pm to 5 pm – PBS can film the boat crews working on their boats, preparing for testing on Sunday
ALSO ON SATURDAY…, April 1
· 9:30 a.m. – surveyors arrive, use Baker’s boat to verify points, repair marker, set out course. They want to be finished by 3 p.m. Baker in attendance here instead of at festival.
· Houseboats and Blue Water Yacht arrive and tie up. Haggin says two houseboats are to be anchored along the east side of the course. The other two stay by peninsula.
· Prepare to park caterer’s trailer in NE corner of hot pits
Sunday, April 2
SOMETIME TODAY – PBS interviews Nancy Harris
9 am – First rescue crew arrives for testing. Film preparation of rescue equipment. Demonstrate boat and
equipment and process in case of accident. Interview safety crew.
· Set up timing equipment (use Baker’s boat), small tents, PA system, move bleachers to viewing area behind nursing home,
9 to 11 am – OPA DRIVER REGISTRATION, set up of inspection area
10 am to noon – safety inspection of OPA boats
1 pm – Launch “float off” boats to test & do “special, close-in runs” for PBS cameras
4 pm – Officials meeting with PBS involved – on caterer’s houseboat
6 pm – Drivers meeting – on the caterer’s houseboat
7 pm - Meeting with safety personnel, patrol boat personnel, manatee watch personnel – may have to go to city hall to show the manatee video

Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday – Warby runs when he sees conditions are favorable. We will stop all other action and give him the water.
Monday, April 3
7 am – Crane arrives early and is set up by 7:00 a.m.
8 am – ambulance arrives for standby
8 to 9 am – Laurie Vidal: blessing of the fleet
· Other boats run in rotation according to kilo rules
11:00 – Place turn buoys
NOON: MEDIA INVITED TO WATCH RUNS, THEN HAVE SUPPER
Run mock offshore race using all buoys – for cameras – SOMETIME – when water is rough.
5:30 to 7:00 pm – supper for media, racers, local dignitaries under tents on lawn at 3 Bananas
Have Warby’s boat close by.
Tuesday, April 4
THREE BANANAS CLOSED TODAY
8:00 to 5:00 – OPA kilo runs in rotation
Wednesday, April 5
8:00 to 4:00 – OPA kilo runs in rotation
5:00 – Big crane leaves
5 to 7 pm – Awards presented in Three Bananas’ back yard
3 to 5 pm - APBA registration in tent just outside 3 Bananas
6 pm – APBA drivers meeting at tent on peninsula
7 pm - Safety personnel meeting after drivers meeting, includes patrol boats and manatee observers
Thursday, April 6
8 am – AMF guys go for APBA and UIM world record in Houseboat
Jersey Speed Skiff – this day if conditions are right, otherwise this boat has 3 more days to run
OPA boats leave approximately noon
After AMF boats are finished with the course, we will start APBA number rotation.
3 to 5 pm - APBA registration in tent just outside 3 Bananas
6 pm – APBA drivers meeting at tent on peninsula
7 pm - Safety personnel meeting after drivers meeting, includes patrol boats and manatee observers
Friday, April 7
Start at safe light. APBA normal number rotation.
3 to 5 pm - APBA registration in tent just outside 3 Bananas
6 pm – APBA drivers meeting at tent on peninsula
7 pm - Safety personnel meeting after drivers meeting, includes patrol boats and manatee observers
Saturday, April 8
Start at safe light. APBA normal number rotation. Close the course as close to 3 pm as possible.
Awards presentation on Three Bananas lawn
Sunday, April 9
Run boats as Friday and Saturday, if one of those days were weathered out and we still have boats that
need to run. Or clean and start preparations for next year.
