Default Buying a 28' Donzi ... Need to move it 200 miles, and learn to run it

I am in the process of buying a 28' Donzi ZX in Ft. Lauderdale. I live in Cocoa Beach (about 200 miles up I-95). Boat doesn't have a trailer and I don't want to cruise it up the coast just yet (first time in this caliber of boat).

What are my options getting it from Ft. Lauderdale to my dry rack storage near Cocoa Beach? Any recommendations?

Also, I am looking for a day of intensive hands-on training/learning about this beast. Any suggestions there?

Thanks OSO. Great forum.

Tres Martin's class.
And there's gotta be someone here who could move the boat for you.

Tres is all classroom though, anyone who takes you out in your own boat (or theirs)?

Wrong... Tres is hands on, out in their boats.

I'm also sure there is a captain out there who could teach you.
Or someone on this board

From the FAQ page...

"Do I get to drive the boat?
Answer: No, our liability insurance do not allow for student to drive at any time."

I still think the class would be the best thing for you (and most of us). But in the meantime, you could probably find an experienced offshore boater in your area to go out with you for a day and show you the ropes.

Really??? All these guys rave about the class... woulda thought you get to drive... if not, then my bad.

My bud just got a 29 searay w/ bowthruster.
Hired a captain to show him how to run the boat.

I'm in NY, or I'd show you.
If you would have bought a Pantera, Jo would gladly of taken you out and showed you how to run it... but thats neither here nor there.

If you're serious I'm down. We're about the same age too.

Now, gotta get it up here.
