recovering padded engine hatch, any ideas?
i'm re-covering my padded engine hatch on a 34'scarab.
any ideas on what material to use and where to get it? i believe the cover is vinyl. what about the foam padding?
i'm sure there's a million kinds. what's good?

Do you Plan on doing it yourself? I hada friend of mine redo all the vinyl on my 32' Excalibur. I got mine here: http://www.osgoodtextile.com/
They have a pre-stiched white padded vinyl that is made specifically for boats. It is not actually stiched, it is made to look like it, I'm not sure how to describe it but it looks great. The place is in Mass, I'm not sure where you're located but the pricing is good, and if they don't have it in stock they can order it for you.

Actually 89Scarab3 you're right. The choices are endless. Any good reputable shop should be able to steer you in the right direction. Lots and lots of vinyl choices, make sure you chose one that has a marine rated. Which has properties for moisture, mildew, UV, etc. Foam choies are just as important. Again a marine rated foam is the right choice.
Good luck.

You will not only have to match color, but you will also need to match texture. Most shops should have samples to match the existing. If you are in New England, I can help you out.
