a better solution is biodiesel. but you need a diesel or turbine for that. Ethanol isnt junk, the infrastructure just isnt ready for it yet. new tanks will have coatings to prevent delamination. if it leaks, its biodegradable.

I would imagine you guys would love ethanol.

Isn't E85 like 105 octane? Sure, you burn 35% more because it has a lower energy density, and it costs more than regular premium, but if you're running the compression/cams/timing to need serious octane, Ethanol is probably your cheapest solution. Just make sure you tweak that carb or you'll run way lean.

Ethanol has a very high evaporation rate particularly in the summer so in your open fuel systems you will lose your octane over a relatively short period of time. It also attracts water and it's corrosive, two great things in the marine environment.

Would 110 octane Citgo race fuel contain ethanol?

Also, does anyone know when Skater began using the new product that isn't damaged by ethanol? Thanks.

Bottom line, what does this E85 stuff mean for the rest of us? Will my blower motors run on E85, what will I need to change?
