what type of fuel pump r u running on your 1000+ hp engines

im going to run some big mechanical fuel pumps on my blower motors but want to run electric pumps in parrallel so if a mech pumps fails im still good to go and wont melt down an engine. what type/model and brand of electric fuel pumps are you guys with big power running? thx, rm

I run all Aeromotive fuel systems on my big HP engines or a belt driven mechanical fuel pump such as a BG or Ron's . Both using returns.

Must run return line. The purpose of returning the fuel eliminates "dead heading" of the regulator and provides constant and stable fuel pressure , at idle and WOT. You will eliminate fuel pressure drop by going with this system and the possibilty of leaning out the engine.

You can run Weldon pumps with no return that can be boost referenced. They can come on when you make a pound of boost or more. This can eliminate dead heading problems like Dean said. They only work when the motors are pulling fuel.

Re: what type of fuel pump r u running on your 1000+ hp engines

I've got 1100hp PSI supercharged motors in my 38 Cigarette. Each of my 2 tanks has a -12 (3/4") hose that feeds my fuel filter. I then "T" with one leg, in -10 (1/2"), going to a modified mechanical pump on the motor and continuing to the fuel log with -10. The other leg of the "T" goes to a Weldon electric pump, activated by boost pressure (4 lbs.), with -10 hose going to a one way valve @ the fuel log.
I have a return pressure regulator @ the fuel log to return fuel to the tank, that is -10 hose.
This system works very well in that if you are cruising and not in boost, the el. pump is not running. I've run this combination for 4 years with no trouble.
