My 41 has been running our NJ offshore waters for 10 years without problems. No cracks, no chips, no dips. We kept running when the pink apache had to turn around and run for home on a rough day. It was so rough we blew the vinyl off the seats :eek:

Skaters are light too, maybe is has more to do with manufacturing and NOT losing a barrel of resin somewhere in the boat.

As said above, my velocity is 11 years old and not a crack to be found. Looks like a brand new boat.

OK, but are they really lighter than average and is this what makes them fast?

I guess there are two ways you can achieve low weight: doing things properly and using all the right materials and procedures OR cutting corners. Looks like Velocity is doing things properly, right?

I believe its the pad bottom more than anything else.

pros- faster with less power, turns incredibly, SAFE

cons- will beat you a little more in rough water than a traditional Vee

Doubt it! :evilb: I thought you broke the boat on that wave, you sounded a little concerned. The pache don't make noises like that egg shell. And like you said; "just don't land the boat on its side." :eek:

The power to speed to weight ratio on those boats are pretty good. They may not be the best handling rough water boat but they sure do run good with stock power.
