I have installed a few to replace stolen drives I have found you get What you pay for .......

have a customer now had another shop install one of there lowers she keeps her boat in the water after 4 mos it dissolved !!!!! the merc upper was still there though :eek: :eek: :eek:


wasnt much left of the lower

Another alternative,tho it is more money,is the genuine Merc reman drive,lots cheaper than new.I swear when you take it out of the box it is exactly like a brand new one. I asked a Merc tech guy about and he smiled and said they are actually brand new drives,just marked reman so they can sell them cheaper and compete with SEI and others. Can anyone confirm that? Put one beside a new one and there is no difference,and same warranty. I just tell my customers "You pays yo money and you takes yo choice".It is the customers call. My thoughts-nice boat-Merc reman. Old boat-SEI.

yes very true, merc has had a problem getting rebuildable cores so many time you get new though they wont gurantee or addmit it will be new one

Although the SEI's are less expensive on paper, with all of the additional labor I have had to pay for they have easily gone over 2500 a piece...and its not over yet. That doesn't account for the aggravation and loss of use of my boat for months.

I wish I had bought a pair of remans or had my own drives remanned.
