Who has been to CATALINA ISLAND?
Who has been out to this island, and is it worth the trip over? Thinking about heading back out to Cali this summer.
Also, is taking a Sea Doo jet boat over there a bad idea? |

Yeah... Catalina is like Main street Disneyland with alcohol... you have to experience it at least once. But on a sea-doo?.......... mmmmmmm.... pretty sketchy... maybe on a good day.

Catalina ROCKS!! It's like paradise. Do yourself a favor and don't take a Sea-doo over to Catalina. :D

On three different occasions in the last few years, I've ridden a jet-ski to Catalina and back, from Newport Beach. What a frikken blast!!! Particularly on a weekend with lots of boats out, you can zoom around, visit other boats, and be free as a bird... Take your VHF, your PFD, and your sunscreen, and JUST DO IT! |
Re: Who has been to CATALINA ISLAND?
Come on guys......a samll boat, jet ski, or jet boat are NOT safe to go to Catalina. The shortest distance to Catalina is (I believe) Newport Beach and that's still 26 miles!!! You can go to Catalina and the water is smooth....then on the way home there can be 6-8 rollers and get windy. If you value your life, it is NOT a safe bet.
There is a group of jet skiers who used to do this 1 time/yr, but they are in a large group with support boats at their side for safety. And I don't see this happening on a regular basis...that's B.S. |
