Tips for drilling through bolster upholstery
I am adding a small grab handle on the outside of the passenger bolster seat and I have to drill through the seat. Any tips for drilling the hole through the upholstery?
I was thinking using a utility knife to cut a small hole in the upholstery first and then drill through the seat frame so the bit doesn't catch on the upholstery. But, I don't want to learn the hard way here!

No worries here......Just put a piece of thick tape over where you want to drill the hole and go withe a pilot head bit I just did this exact same thing and it worked out very well, the wife loves having the handles when it gets rough.

run the drill in reverse until you are through all the fabric and padding, less chance of snagging the material and ripping it.
