I'm not incredible wealthy compared to many on this board. However, I can afford many of these boats new.....

One of the reasons; I buy used. Let someone else take the hit. I'd rather have several nice lightly used toys & liquid investments, than one or two new toys and very little reserve.

I also dont like the idea of borrowing (paying interest) on a depreciating investment.. Ive see too many people upside down :chimp:

buy pre-owned and expect to replace the motor - then buy a set of stock brand new motors with more power than the boat needs...that way WOT is funner and you can cruise economically without stressing the motors all day long.

A good way to buy new is to buy a 1-2 year old left over. They are around but you have to search. You can usually find a Formula or Donzi left over.

Used only, have never bought new.

I ocean boat, so between the salwater effects and stress of ramming a depreciable asset into the docks, it is a no brainer in my context.

That's what I did . Got a 2001 left over in 2003. Full warranty easy to get financing and saved 30 thousand.

That is what we did as well. We are almost 4 years into the investment and very happy.
