Re: Nyc Poker Run Get The Message!
My point may have been taken the wrong way. The point I was trying to get across was ....... Poker Runs already have a bad rap, no need to add insult to injury. The sign of the times? Well, I'm just afraid that the poker runs will become obsolete soon. That the restrictions put on them will become WAY strict and soon no one will be doing them. Then once they hit the Poker Runs, then the Fun Runs we be next and become obsolete too.
(Personally, I just hate when some comes on the board and say the BAD before they say the Good

As far as I am concerned you cannot put a price on FUN and FRIENDSHIP. I believe at some point the course will be cleared of spectators as well. They have little on NO regard for the runners and in many cases get in the way by getting way to close to the course lines so they can get good pics or videos. It's nice to have a fan base but safety will eventually make the rules going forward. We had blast as always.

Re: Nyc Poker Run Get The Message!
I did the Lake George run in May . The $ 100 fee was cheap. But I needed hotel, transportation costs and 3 days to do it. And glad I did.NYC is not as much effort to do therefore a fair price for me.I enjoy mingling the docks and the food wasn't all that bad.So to each his own, My friend took his boat to the docks , Walked around the event bought a poker run shirt and left to go up river to watch the run I had no problem with that. PS I paid and their are no pictures of my boat either.Seems I jumped the gun and as punishment I have been pulled from sharkies pictures along with the other first group boats. But that's his right.

well i have to agree with sypder i heard the entry was $700.00 yes that does separate the men from the boys or the not so smart with there money from the frugal. just my opinion but $700 is a lot to pay for a one day event that last a few hours and you get hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch. i can go to the lake get on the sand bar eat hotdogs and hamburgers from a grill and be with 200 boats of friends and see a lot more.and have almost as much fun for pennies on the dollar. Also from the number entries there must be a lot more frugal people starting to thank the same way

Which boat is yours? If you post a pic.... I may have some friends that snapped a few of you.

Yes 700 Is Quite Expensive, but There Were Some Bigshots Out There Who Didnt Run,and Just Ran Along Side Or Just Sat There...but It's About Fun And Meeting Cool People...and Seeing What's Out There. It's What You Make Of It Regardless If You Have A Few Bucks To Throw Out Just To Proove Wow I Got Money..really Who Cares How Much Money You Have..get Out There And Run Or Sit..we Are Practiclly All Doing The Same Thing..and That Is..having Fun!..as A Matter Of Fact..we Had Just As Much Fun As Anyone Who Did Pay!

70 poker runners on the Hudson River have no more rights than any other boat there, unless the USCG or the NYPD shut the river down, which isn't going to happen.
