Default survey

I recently purchased a 1989 Century Ultra II. It is 27' long. What do you all think it would cost to have a survey done. The insurance companies want one in order to insure the boat.

About 10-12 dollars a foot. Atleast here in San Diego.

My friend just paid $575.00 to have his 31SS SONIC surveyed (it was a rip off!) The guy missed a bunch of stuff.

I've heard $14-20 per foot.

Did you really buy a boat without getting insurance first. What if something would of happened on the way home.

or....Did you really buy a aboat without a survey??? What if something happened on the first run out.

I also expect it to be $15-20/ft. If you tell them it's just for your insurance they may do a quick "survey" for less money.

Yes, I bought it without a survey. Other than a little slop in the drive (just got done putting gimble rings in) it is good shape. I wasn't gonna just pay for one to have myself as I work on boats and do F/G work and know what to look for. Maybe not everything but for the most part I do. Plus it was just a $9,000 boat and trailer. Oh, and the broker company delivered it to my house so if they wrecked or lost the trailed, it would have been on them. Thank you all for the input.
