DANG!! Fastest speed run I've ever seen was last night with a repeat tonight!
Got on the various websites on Wednesday and found when the Shuttle was flying over.....last night the ISS and the Shuttle cruised over at about 8:51 last night for 3 minutes....and about 17,500MPH.
Check it out in your area! It's pretty cool! This info below is for my area.....so your will be different. LINK TO SITE (select your area) PHP Code:

Nort,
Cool post! :D It's amazing to think that they initially re-enter @ approx. 17,000 mph too! When I was working the shuttle program back in the early 90's, some of the shuttle astronauts were @ Edwards AFB for training and they ran into some of the SR-71 pilots. The SR-71 pilots had patches on their flight suits that said "MACH 3+". Well the shuttle astronauts got together had some patches made for their flight suits that said "MACH 17+"!! :D The shuttle astronauts are some of the most fearless and dedicated people you will ever meet. Go USA! :D |

I'm in awe of the whole space program. I saw a simulation of how fast the shuttle/ISS combo would be like a few hundred feet above ground...unbelievably fast....talk about the ride of your life

Use that link I put up there......it's different for every location. It give you a time, a compass heading.....and the degree from the horizon that it will appear and disappear |

One thing to remember.....the site provides "visible" times.....I was surprised last night. I was watching it go across, the wham....it was gone. Actually...I just couldn't see it anymore as the sunshine (or moonshine) wasn't hitting it anymore so that is why they give a degree from the horizon that it will appear and disapear, plus the compass heading.
